Advanced Treasure Maps starts where the regular Treasure Maps leaves off: ready to go deeply into the “territories” of Action Blocks, Addictions, Depression, and Unfulfilled Desire, and into the three transformational processes that heal and resume what has been stopped.

Ann and Barbara do demos with participants, and share the newest aspects of their thinking about this powerful method. Paired Focusing sessions are long from the start, rather than building slowly in length day by day.

Where You’ll Be Staying

About the Location

“Designed by the celebrated San Francisco architect Willis Polk, the grand house was erected between 1911 and 1915, when Polk was also the supervising architect of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Construction materials had to be transported by the Mount Tamalpais railroad to then-remote wilderness site, which afforded panoramic views of the mountain and the San Francisco Bay Area. White developed the grounds to include a heart-shaped lawn, orchards, trails through the woods, meadows, and a natural creek-fed swimming pool.”

The Ralston White Retreat center is located just north of San Francisco in Mill Valley, California. The closest international airports are SFO and OAK, both are approximately one hour away by car. Frequently Asked Questions

When does the retreat actually start and end?

The workshop starts on the evening of the first day, after dinner, and ends just before lunch on the last day. Dinner on the first day and lunch on the last day are included.

What is the schedule?

We meet as a group for three hours each morning and three hours each afternoon. Paired practice is included in those three hours. In the evenings, participants are free to take quiet time or join others for shared activities like singing, dancing, storytelling, improv games. The days normally run from 9am – 6pm, beginning with breakfast. Dinner is at 6:30pm.

Is there Focusing time every day?

Yes, you will be Focusing in partnership each day, for longer times each day, as you gain the resources you’ll need to be with the deep places.

How much Focusing experience do I really need as a prerequisite?

This retreat continues where our regular Treasure Maps retreat leaves off. Accordingly, you must have joined us for a previous Treasure Maps retreat.

I'd like to reserve a shared room but I don't know anyone else to bring with me.

Feel free to reserve a shared room even if you are coming by yourself; we’ll be happy to assign you a roommate.

Continuing Education Credit & Course Completion Certificate

Course meets the qualifications for 35 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. PCE#62524

Eligibility for CE units requires 100% live attendance. If you miss any hours of instruction, you are ineligible for CE units.

There is a $25 administrative fee for CE units. Course completion certificates are awarded at the end of the course upon completion of all requirements and the course evaluation. (If you don’t want CE units but would like a completion certificate, the $25 fee does still apply.)

How much English do participants need to understand and speak in order to be able to follow the workshop?

The language of the workshop is slow English. Ann and Barbara are very experienced with international groups and always take care to speak slowly. We always pause if someone needs a translation of a word or concept. You will be able to do partnership sessions in your own language. If you want to speak in the group in your own language, someone will translate for you.
