Are you tired of being patient with the parts that block your forward living? Read on…
A Reader asked:
I know I’m supposed to be calm, kind, and patient with the part of me that is blocked. The problem is, I feel like I’ve been doing that forever.
I just want my life to get moving! Sometimes I despair that I’m never really going to do the things I’ve dreamed of doing.
Dear Reader:
I get what you are saying, I really do. I’ve been there myself. It’s so tough to know that your life holds bigger things if you can just get past your blocks… and then not be able to get them to move an inch.
I remember a time when I looked at my life and felt really stuck. My dreams were so much bigger than what I was manifesting. The gap between what I saw in front of me and what I wanted was just too big.
Then I tried a process that Barbara McGavin and I had developed, something that can be called “The Wanting of the Wanting.”
Do you want to try it right now?
First, take some time to pause and bring awareness to your body. Breathe… and sense your contact with what you’re sitting on. Just be here.
Now, invite the feeling of wanting your life to get moving. You don’t have to call it a part of you. Just say: “I invite the feeling of wanting my life to get moving.” Or whatever words fit it right now.
Next, take some time to sense what the wanting-to-get-your-life-moving wants for you. What it wants for you from getting your life moving.
When I did this step, I got the feeling of a vast interconnected web, and me being part of it, contributing to it and receiving from it. This felt wonderful!
And now, pause and sense if there is something more, something new, that is arising in you from this wanting-of-the-wanting place.
When I did this step, I got the image of putting my voice out into the world, letting my voice be heard. Within a few weeks I had written and recorded my first audiotape, Introducing Focusing. Many things in my life were still blocked, but at least that was possible… and it made a difference.
It’s still important to be empathic to the blocking part of you, the part that doesn’t want to do the action. But you can bring in some fresh air by spending time with other aspects of the situation as well. Wanting has energy in it! Sometimes the energy of the wanting can be the impetus that carries you forward.
