Can Focusing help you use alternative treatment methods? Read on…

I’m 71 years old. Twelve months ago I was diagnosed with “severe” osteoporosis in my spine.
The doctor is trying to get me to take drugs. I’ve been doing the best I can for twelve months to improve my spine health, with no improvement yet. I’m thinking of trying for another twelve months to remain drug free and make improvements using diet, exercise and a vibration platform.
My question is: could Focusing help? And how would I approach that?
Dear Helen:
Focusing can help you listen to your spine and be open to sensing what it needs to be healthy and strong. Our bodies can tell us what they need, for sure. Maybe you’ll get messages about the diet, the exercise, and the vibration platform.
But — here’s the catch — you’d need to be open to any response.
I get the impression that if you sensed your spine would like you to take the drugs your doctor suggests, that you wouldn’t want to hear that.
Clearly you don’t want to take drugs! And yet, if what you want is to partner with your body and listen to what it wants, it’s probably best to keep an open mind.
I remember when I helped my sister do Focusing, when she was in treatment for cancer.
She said her doctor was recommending she move to a stronger chemo, and she wasn’t sure about that.
She sensed in her body — and from her body she got the message of “Yes, let’s do the stronger chemo.”
She sensed the message of relaxation from her body, knowing it wouldn’t have to work as hard if the chemo was stronger. This surprised her… but she also felt a sense of peace, receiving the message her body wanted what the doctor recommended.
Everyone is different. Situations and circumstances are different. If you listen inside to what your body knows will help, it will be unique to you, and can change as time goes on.
And it’s such a good idea to listen!
